What a perfect weekend! Lapping up Team GB success at the Olympics whilst crafting away, up to my elbows in mica and ink :)) Thr reason for my endeavours will become evident to one person soon (ooooh, don't you love a mystery?) It was also my second go at a tag for Linda Ledbetter's latest challenge - Perfect Pearls Mist. If you haven't seen it, Linda sets a challenge each week based on the techniques explained in Tim Holtz' Compendium of Curiosities 2, and for those who buy craft books and are tempted not to read them this is a seriously good way of making you do just that.
After checking up on the current list of challenges I also discovered that this tag also fits the criteria for the latest Our Creative Corner challenge - Bling, Bling. Frankly anything connected to the super-talented Linda Coughlin is a must in my humble opinion and her DT are amazing.
So the background to this used Tim's Perfect Pearls Mist technique - I won't go into details out of respect to him, but suffice it to say I was knee deep in mica!! Just to highlight the embossing further I rubbed over the embossed surface with DI Dusty Concord, and the bottom of the tag was cut using some SB border dies (notice I used the little hearts that popped out to decorate the top of the tag and the flower).
The image is from one of the Indigo Blu stamp sets I won recently - using clear embossing powder on top of DI Dusty Concord gave this a slightly watercolour effect and that was further enhanced with mica paint.
The feather was added courtesy of one of the local swans who dropped this on the canalside. It adds a touch of mystery and burlesque to the image!
The flower is made from grungepaper, painted with white acrylic paint and inked with Misty Mauve Versacolor. Love that Papermania bling brad and the lace layers.
Now, along with my new stamps (which Trace had wrapped beautifully in tissue with lace - see above!- and a flower) and a stunning tag...
How generous and thoughtful can you get?! To see more of Trace's amazing work step THIS WAY.
Time to leave you again for now. Jessica Ennis and Mo Farrah are on tonight and I have to recreate some 7 dots studio paper (if I can!). A huge thankyou to those of you who are kind enough to leave me such supportive and encouraging comments. They really mean the world to me and I will always endeavour to return the favour if I can. Hugs, Buttons x
