Look Up!!!

Noticed anything different? Do you like? So many peeps have been updating their blogs recently, and you inspired me to sort mine out a bit. Now when it came to the blog title I decided to go down the handcrafted route, and in the process came up with a piece to meet the needs for two challenges;

Guessing the denim is obvious?! The buttons depict the layers of a heart. OK, so I've stretched the OCC brief somewhat by using a flower piece cut from a strip of lace rather than ribbon, but it did work better with the ink/Picket Fence. The stamps are from an Andy Skinner set and the 'corrugated' flower is courteousy of Linda Coughlin (it was in my order parcel and I've been saving it for just such an occasion).

The favouite technique? I love embossing fabric and highlighting it with ink, or on this occasion gesso. Rather than leaving it embossed this time I ran it back through the GC to flatten it again, making it was easier to stamp on. All of this was inspired by the amazing work of Finnabair (I highly recommend you check out her site if you are not already familiar with her style).

Huge thanks for dropping in on me and welcome to my new followers. I really value your comments and feedback as you are all such a talented and awe-inspiring bunch for so many reasons.
Hugs, Buttons x

    I love how you are inspired by others but take their ideas and make them totally your. Can't wait to see what you do with the TTC Handmade Treasure that is currently out over the Indian Ocean somewhere.

  12. Love the new header Buttons!! How do you do that? I really want to change mine but haven't a clue. I tried to do it through blogger but it said all my pictures were too big!!
    LOVE your fabric piece and it really makes me want to get mine out. Love the idea of running through an embossing folder (I've only done it with canvas before). Funnily enough, I was just over at Finnabair drooling over her work - it takes my breath away quite frankly and you can either feel totally dejected about or totally inspired and I'm trying so hard to be in the last category!!
    Have a lovely weekend and if you have time let me know about the blog thingy AND how you manage to be so productive as things take me AGES to make!!
    I'm going now - don't worry!!
