The Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas - Tag 5

Hi everyone. How frustrating! This card was completed yesterday but the Stickles took until this morning to dry. Never mind, it's done now.

Which bits of Linda's tag inspired me? I started with the same background, a manilla tag, a combo of brown Distress Inks blended over some Coffee Archival stamping (a holly design Texture Tread) and stencilling. The garlands are also a direct copy of the gorgeous originals.

Then it was a question of how to tackle the rest. The TH mini blueprint Christmas images didn't seem to fit so I searched out a Creative Expressions pine needles stamp and created a garland base.

For the main garland of holly I took inspiration from Linda by using corrugated card (and Coredinations card) inked and spritzed with Biscotti Perfect Pearls. I also added crinoline holly leaves but felt the lack of colour and went with Victorian Velvet to stain them. Finally some embossed card coloured with Tarnished Brass paint was die cut and sanded back a little.

The garland was finished with those pesky Stickles berries, a dyed seam binding double bow, and of course the obligatory sentiment. And then it was matted and layered to frame the panel.

That's it for number 5, and number 6 is drying as we speak (oh yes, the pace is relentless) as is my 'not a tag' version of Tim's final 2013 tag. Plenty to see over the coming few days.
For now take care of yourselves, Jenny xxx

  4. Another lovely card Jenny, I like the combination of materials you have used for all the different leaves. I used stickles on a workshop once in the early days and could not believe how long they took to dry, never again unless I can leave them overnight, or use them very sparingly. Hugs Mo x
