Hi everyone. If you read yesterday's post HERE you'll know I'm on something of a catch up mission. Last year I played along with The Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas, sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique, and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. So I'm playing along again this year and today it's the turn of Tag 3 (Tag 2 is completed and will be shown shortly). Yesterday chalkboard, today the stars. Oh yes, it's the gold stars in Linda's original tag, shown HERE, that got me started on my card. And here's what I came up with...
Nothing like the original, but some similar elements. Ever since I saw Tim's Stars Stencil it reminded me of a Christmas tree. Gold embossing paste is wonderful stuff, not only for the gentle sheen but also its resist properties. And this resisted a whole heap of smooching through Crushed Olive and Peeled Paint ink and Tarnished Brass stain. And if that wasn't enough, a spritz with Biscotti Perfect Pearls finished off the shimmery look.
You will see from the first image that a touch of Glossy Accents helped add a little more dimension to the star on top of the tree.
On Linda's original tag she had some striking black stamped images, so I added a couple of floral garlands. This reminded me of the lace roses from the Boutique and the addition of a single strip looked great, though not perfect. Well not until a few stains had been applied that is!
By this point it was taking on a Victorian feel but needed more structure. Enter some snowflake strips, like those used on the first card. Now the bottom of the tree looked bare, so I stamped out a few parcels, coloured them with Distress Markers in complimentary colours, and hey presto.
Fit for any parlour in the land methinks!
So that's two (well really three) down. And the fourth is well under way as we speak.
If you fancy giving this a go head over to the first tag HERE for all the details.
I'll be back tomorrow with the next instalment. In the meantime, take care of yourselves. Jenny xxx
The Glossy Accents is a lovely touch, something I wouldn't have considered.
ReplyDeleteAlso like that snowflake border.

As always Jenny fabulous work !! Thankyou so much for your lovely comment on the eP blog. You'll love using the tomato purée tubes. This is drop-dead gorgeous, Jenny! I'm really loving the way you brought everything together. The background is just sensational, your stars are beautiful and I love the snowflake garland. I need to get mine out and use it on something before the season ends - it's so pretty and I really like the way you broke it up and used it in several areas. And of course, the dyed lace is, well, to die for (sorry couldn't resist it and it's true too :)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Linda
Beautiful - but I am a little confused -- is this a tag? It really doesn't matter because most of all it is gorgeous!!
