Stencils for Frilly and Funkie - Festive ICAD's (Part One)

Hi everyone. As promised I'm going to show you some close ups of the Festive ICAD's made for the Frilly and Funkie Friday Focus, which this time centred on stencils. These will be shown in two parts to keep things on the right side of War and Peace, so here goes...

I love to stencil using Picket Fence Distress Paint as a resist. It still thrills me every time the white pops through whatever has been covered over it.

Using the diffuser with the embossing folder ensures you only add a hint of pattern over the top so you don't lose the focal point. I found that you can layer Glossy Accents over Distress Stickles to create the most wonderful glistening berries. I also strongly recommend getting yourselves an embossing pen to help when clear embossing the most fiddly of images.

And so to ICAD number two. It took a bit of patience to add alternate stripes of white embossing paste over the existing painted ones but the effect is well worth it.

It shows up a little better on the photo below. The tree was cut from Distress Coredinations card and was inked in the corresponding colour after scrunching it.

Oh what joy! Tim's Simple Sayings fit perfectly across ICAD's. By the way, if you want to know what ICAD's are head over to Astrid's HERE.

And now for the last of the ICAD's for today, my snowy window.

The dots and stripes stencil got me thinking about the view from a winter window. Having used it with paint, I added more embossing paste to the stripes for an indoor dado rail (with a touch of lace of course).

The pediment die cut is covered in Distress Embossing Powder and Brushed Pewter Distress Stain. The window is cut from acetate and Snow Cap Alcohol Ink has been painted on to the corners of each pane. Like the 'tinsel'? If you live in the UK you will find it sold by the metre at B&Q, the DIY store. Funny, I now jump at the chance to visit when hubby needs more 'stuff'!!! And I finally got hold of the Festive Greenery Decorative Strip and will be putting it to good use on many more of these projects.

In case you missed it Linda has put all Wendy Vecchi and Dyan Reaveley stencils on an extra 15% discount this week, including the gorgeous new Dyan Reaveley ones. You can find them HERE.
I'll be back a little earlier tomorrow with the final two ICAD's in the set. Until then, take care of yourselves, hugs Jenny x
