Hi everyone and thanks for joining me. Once again I've had some really lovely comments - they are so encouraging and I appreciate each and every one of them. Well, much like buses, I have not one but two cards to show you this week featuring images from a gorgeous set offered by Nicecrane Designs.
The set in question features ATC backgrounds based on the work of the famous illustrator Jessie Wilcox. They have such a nostalgic feel and provide an instant focal point for a project. You can see the set by clicking HERE;
A suggestion for you that has worked well for me - if you print two copies you can use the second to create a decoupage effect by cutting around the focal point and layering it over the first.
I kept the background relatively simple, stencilling DP Picket Fence through the Wendy Vecchi Yikes Stripes stencil before applying DI Weathered Wood/Stormy Sky using the wrinkle free distress method. Just love the blotches and watermarks.
You will notice more of that stamped/embossed vellum in the background. I may end up making whole batches of this as it adds such a delicate touch to a card.
'Don't throw anything out' has been a something of a mantra for so long I now that I have a little bucket full of the smallest offcuts. Time to get some of them used up, and with a bit of stitching you could be forgiven for thinking they'd been cut out on purpose! As ever with a crafter, this young lady looked so deep in thought that the sentiment almost screamed at me to be used here.
My next card using these designs will be here on Wednesday, and in the meantime do take a look at the vast array of affordable images on offer at Nicecrane Designs.
Take care of yourselves, hugs Jenny x
Your foray into 3D is really great Jenny. Your piece is contemplative and gentle!
ReplyDeleteThey certainly do have some great images - I'm often tempted! Love this girl quietly stitching - not something you'd see these days I imagine. Great to be using up some of your 'saved' bits and pieces.
