It's Wednesday!!! Where did first half of this week go?!
OK, two days of extra work commitments has meant things have been quiet here on the crafting front, although I have finished another of my 12 Tags of Christmas (post for that later). The idea for this post is that we get to share what's on our workdesks (rather than our finished projects) so we can get to visit our fellow crafters without leaving our own front doors. It's all organised by Julia at the Stamping Ground who will give you all the details/links so you can join in the fun too. As it's been quiet I thought I'd show you my small collection of buttons:) I've collected a fair few in my time but the vast majority of these came from my mum, and lots of those were passed down by my nan (a seamstress by trade). They range from the bog standard ones to the sort I save for very special occasions (OK, so I look at them and decide against using them this time! again!!) There are glass ones, mother of pearl ones and mum says some were made as one-offs for people in the fashion business. All I know is I'm never without a button for a project!! So now it's time to sign off and go visit fellow WOYWWers. This may happen this morning, or I may get another call to go into work and it will need to wait until later. Either way, I'll see you soon. Hugs, Buttons x
You can't beat a desk full of buttons to mess about with.

Buttons, you desk made me smile this morning. I too was a tailoress and have given Annie my stash of buttons. Have fun with them. Hugs Rita xx
ReplyDeleteButtons by buttons! Sorry!
ReplyDeleteLovely collection perhaps one time you could spotlight some of the individual ones like the special ones made as a one off.
Interestingly, when I was at the show at weekend I could not believe the price of some buttons now. £3 for one and various prices around there. WOW.
Take care and I got to you before you got to me this week, phew!

ReplyDeleteMorning Buttons, my your button collection is awesome! Have a great day, personally I'm glad it's Wednesday, nearer the weekend that way!! Helen, 8
ReplyDeleteWhat is it about buttons that everyone loves? I have fond childhood memories of playing with various button boxes - maybe it was a cheap way of entertaining children but it worked for me.
ReplyDeleteLove the big puffed out wooden ones.

Okay, so those would be Buttons' buttons then?! What an amazing collection - I know you said you had a lot, but I hadn't really imagined that... and how lovely that so many of them have been passed down through the family. Just visited all the 9s telling them I'm at 79, and now I'm at 80 - bah!! So now I'm visiting friends instead!

We got a bit excited for a moment as we thought the buttons to the right were doughnuts to share with fellow WOYWWers! Great collection by the way.

I too am constantly gobsmacked by the price of buttons these days - even in charity shops and car boots, which used to be my best source! I must be sitting on a goldmine, I've collected hundreds over the years... Lovely things aren't they? Chloe x I'm not WOYWWing today, just visiting :-)
ReplyDeleteLooks like we both love buttons. I have oodles of them in boxes, bags, tubs and don't use them very often.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.

LOL oh how I relate to this. I gathered "a few" buttons for Christmas projects but always change my mind at the last minute as what if I need it another time for some other project!!
ReplyDeleteLike you I have vintage, glass, etc. The most precious are genuine Art Nouveau and Art Deco which have been passed down to me.
Next item I make I will use a button and stop having them there merely to look at LOL.

Lynne
P.S. Thanks for the push!
Happy WOYWW - I lOVe your desk today, I too am a fan of buttons and hesitate to use the ones I have and buy more. Addicted? Well maybe just slightly, haha.

That is a truly impressive load of buttons! I have just one baggie of old buttons so I rarely use them as I just don't want to give any of them up. :) Thanks for stopping by and leaving me a comment already, Deeyll
