Hello everyone. Looking forward to the weekend? I may just have given myself a reason to have the heebie jeebies every night... having lost my place in a book four times recently I needed a bookmark but could one be found? Oh no. And so I set to creating one. Inspired by a fab journal by Sandra HERE it seemed a good idea to use Halloween colours.
Actually, it didn't seem so dark until I added the Tim Holtz sentiment!
Obviously this is black card, initially stamped with the mannequin (masked) with the mirror behind and the chandelier in front (doubled for emphasis). All were embossed with black WOW embossing powder - and wow does this stuff work well! It really keeps the detail, which is not easy with that mirror frame.
Copper and violet pearlised powders were mixed with water and spritzed over the whole lot.
These powders (and some pearlescent powder) were then mixed to a paint consistency to colour the main images. Different amounts of water were needed to allow the embossed edges to come through.
The sentiment fitted beautifully with the whole look and should be inspirational...?
The banner element is violet UTEE on top of metal with added black Promarker to make it less 'pretty'. The the whole bookmark then had a coat of Ranger Glue n Seal - although this slightly dulls the shine it stops the chance of anything being transferred onto my books, and it also gives the whole thing a leathery texture.
And so to the challenges;
Wishing you all an enjoyable weekend (Bonfire Night! Yippee!!) and please don't have nightmares:)
Hugs, Buttons x

Hi Buttons
ReplyDeleteFirst let me say you are a girl after my own heart, a Bookworm BUT also that you don't resort to turning down the corners of books, my pet peeve!
A stunning bookmark and I've had many over the years. Amazing stamping (and masking) and even the detailing on the bottom edge.

ReplyDeleteIt's so refreshing to know that people still read REAL books...ones that need an actual bookmark. The electric readers drive me nuts. After looking at a computer screen all day there's nothing like relaxing at night with the feel of a book in your hand. Love your bookmark it's just wonderful and the sentiment is very inspiring. :)
