Hi everyone and welcome followers new and old. Back again (feels like it's been an age, even though my last post was only on Wednesday!) Time flies when there are millions of things going on; some good, some not so good, but that's life eh? And now I have any number of challenges to enter so prepare to be bombarded if I can get some projects completed and a faster pace.
Today's tag is one I finished a little while ago but didn't post for some reason. It fits with the requirements for the Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge - Read All About It, which has a mega prize awaiting the winner plus details of a fab blog hop. They are celebrating 10 years in style!
Writing letters is a bit of a dying art in these days of emails/twitter/Facebook/etc. so this tag celebrates the time and care that goes into putting pen to paper to convey your thoughts when travelling abroad.
Lots of elements used here including backing papers which have been die cut using a Memory Box typewriter alphabet. In this case I used what would be considered the 'waste'.
The stamps are real and pretty much defined the colour scheme. The fountain pen got covered in Glossy Accents to give it dimension. The feather was rubbed with mica powders to add more shine.
Guess what! More metal from pie tins used for those pen nibs! NOTHING goes to waste in this house!
Right, short, sweet and to the point for once, I will away as there are an embarrasingly huge number of blog posts that need catching up with. Hugs to you all, Buttons x
Hi Buttons, it does seem ages since you blogged last......your tag is brilliant, so much detail. Love that fountain pen, it looks a bit like leather in the photo and those pen nibs are fab too, you are such a versatile crafter. I do still enjoy writing letters but people just don't appreciate them anymore.....sad, but I guess email and text are so much quicker. Crafty hugs, Anne x
ReplyDeleteNice work, as usual...loving those nibs, and what a good idea to make use of pie dishes. Good luck with the challenge - you've been on a roll lately so you never know!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous tag and I love how you let the colours in the postage stamps dictate the colour of your tag.

Love the actual stamps that you've incorporated into your tag and I can't believe how you've recycled pie tins!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous tag Buttons, love the colours and the nibs ! Sue C x
ReplyDeleteHi Buttons
ReplyDeleteWill it surprise you to know that I still handwrite letters. I have a friend in France and although we chat by e-mail we will also write our lengthy news in handwritten letters, in fact I am due her a letter.
So you can imagine that your tag appeals to me so much with those pen nibs and beautiful pen, oh I love fountain pens. I love the touch of adding the postage stamp.
Wishes
Lynne
Great Buttons! The letters are so nice, the layering, the colours...it all fits so well....
ReplyDeleteHave a nice Sunday, Alie :-)
Love the way you have used the waste for the background gives it real depth :)

I love this!!! Not only are the colors grand, but all the pens and such are such a cool idea! I really love that stamp too! She a beauty!
ReplyDeleteSome really wonderful things going on in this tag Buttons! I particularly love the way you've used all the layers to such fab effect; the glossy accents (of course!) and the mica on the feather is a lovely touch.
ReplyDeleteSeems like ages since I saw you blog too - I don't often read the woyww things because I don't want to become addicted and then have to start doing it myself!
Sorry you weren't successful over at CE - join the club! We will move onwards and upwards though!!
Enjoy your Sunday.

ReplyDeleteOooh its great - good luck!
ReplyDeleteAnother fab tag. I so like your use of the 'waste' alphabet. Fountain pens make me think of school essays. My writing is so bad I'm suprised I'm not a doctor LOL.
ReplyDeleteWonderful tag! Love the 'waste' and the pen nibs, especially.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant tag with great 'upcycling', and lovely details and techniques on every element. Couldn't agree more about celebrating the lost art of letter writing - lovely post altogether...
