Creating it from scratch

Hi everyone and thank you for joining me. If you saw my last post HERE you'll have heard the sob story about missing the last Compendium of Curiosities 3 challenge deadline due to indecisiveness. Well I got that second water-colouring card completed and figured I'd share it anyway.

Since this week's Sunday Stamper theme is 'to use a greeting'
and Simon Says Stamp Monday want you to 'start from scratch'
you can guess where I'll be entering this!

Talk about starting from scratch - this card began with that background stamped using Tim Holtz Classics #3 in Wendy Vecchi Watering Can Archival Ink and water-coloured with DI Frayed Burlap. Once you get into the swing the diamond pattern is not difficult to repeat stamp. Then we've got Chevron Frameworks die cuts in my favourite Kraft Core card stencilled over with Wendy Vecchi White Embossing Paste coloured with DP Aged Mahogany. A little DP Evergreen Bough was added to a few patches when the paste had dried.

To finish I added die cut, embossed, inked tickets, Tissue Tape, the stamped sentiment (quelle surprise!) and the altered metal globe (DP Black Soot and Alcohol Inks - Sandal/Stonewashed/Espresso). Finally there's that pointy finger; you have no idea how long this has been hanging around waiting for a suitable home! Created using UTEE and Archival Ink stamping I used Tim's 'Altered Surface' technique to make it work.

That's it for today but I'll be back tomorrow (more than once!) and hope you can join me.
Have a great Tuesday everyone and take care of yourselves, Jenny xxx

  28. I love this card Jenny, the little touch of evergreen bough over some of the red texturing is lovely and I adore how you have done the globe. The background is so cleverly done and the chevrons and tickets are perfectly placed to frame the globe. I have just missed AVJ deadline... must be catching. Mo x
