Hi everyone. Thanks for dropping by. I mentioned recently that another journal was required (this time for the birthday of Son No. 2 - the aspiring author). Well the day is here and the journal is done so here goes.
There won't be much in the way of gabble - I mean description! - today (breath a sigh of relief out there) as time is rather precious.
The central panel was created first but I didn't want to do another paintsy background, so Shelly Hickox's 'faux leather' technique was perfect.
As I'd used Wendy Vecchi embossing paste through a stencil for the base it needed a thin layer of brown paper over the top - Linda Coughlin to the resuce!!! My order from The Funkie Junkie Boutique arrived at the door and inside were parcels beautifully wrapped in the perfect weight of paper - result! Even more important, some Claudine Hellmuth Multi-Medium Matte was also included and is ideal for using to attach the paper/coat the inked up surface.
Now for the main panel. This involved lots of masking and stamping with a combo of Brett Weldele images (including embossed resist to protect the author in the centre).
However, you will notice my author is stood in front of a bookshelf in the shop where he is waiting to sign copies of his latest tome for his adoring public. Brett hasn't created a stamp like this yet, so I drew these by hand myself, trying to replicate his style as closely as possible.
Finally, layering with plain black cs, some filigree metal corners and Stickles added a certain je ne sais quoi. And as with the previous journal (HERE) the inner covers were also embellished with inked/embossed paper.
And I'm pleased to report my son is very happy with it.
So I will enter the following challenges;
That's all for now folks. Take care of yourselves.
Hugs, Jenny x
