It's All White!

Well it is here in Staffordshire anyway - snow fell all morning. And my offering for today is all white(ish) too! Something different from me as I can't do white without getting mucky paw-prints all over things usually:)

At any point we are expecting to hear about the arrival of a new addition to my OH's extensive family - a first great niece/nephew (oh, now I feel ancient!!!) No idea which it will be, hence the 'bland' colour scheme.

The starting point was the central image, one by the uber-talented Mo Manning, which I coloured with Promarkers. You can see the nice thick frame around it is one of my die cut, embossed moulding paste creations which was covered in white acrylic paint and then dowsed in White Pearl WOW embossing powder to boot. Nothing like a spot of overkill!!

Like the 'stamping' in the background? (now, in my best Rolf Harris voice...) Can you guess what it is yet? Yes, an embossing folder!!! Whoopie, another use for them! I applied Versamark to the raised side and pressed onto the card, covering the results with the same White Pearl embossing powder. I'm guessing this can be used to add paint and ink to surfaces too... I now NEED those new Tim Holtz paints:))))

The gorgeous lace is some of my precious stash from The Funkie Junkie Boutique (SO glad I've got more of this on the way). A sprinkle of various buttons over the top with a little die cut flower and some punched leaves completed the top of the card in a more delicate way than I am used to, and I added a border inside again to turn it into an easel card - love that this way I don't disrupt the main layout!! Got one of my MS punches to do some extra lace work along the inside too.

Challenges for this include;
Our Creative Corner - Shabby Chic Style
Simon Says Stamp and Show - Lace Love
Make My Monday - Die Cuts and Punches
Hope you like my venture into the world of clean and careful... you won't find me here often!
Now, a quick heads up - Lynne at Adorn is having a give-away to celebrate her three years in blogland - and while you are there take the time to see what she achieves with lace as it is sublime.
Thank you so much for dropping by to see me to, including my newest followers. I'm always blown away by the lovely comments you guys leave and appreciate each and every one of them.
Hugs, Jenny x

  1. Just gorgeous Jenny. The texture is fabulous and love the pretty embellishing and sweet image.
    Know how you feel about the ancient too as I'm a great auntie 3 times over and my memories of my own great aunt stem from when she was around 80 - long way to go in my case, honest!!!

  9. Oh Buttons but I love your buttons!! I honestly do - they are so perfectly arranged! Your card is wonderful Jenny with such a lovely image. All the lace and edge punching so apt. I reckon you can do any style with aplomb. I'm appointing you Queen of Embossing - you are making those folders work their socks off (to wonderful effect!). Nicola x

    p.s. when you are embossing nesties does your emboss mat slide annoyingly as you manoever sandwich thru machine? I've only just bought a mat, there's no manufacturer name on it, but it slides between plates and I can see it bugging me. N.

  17. Hi Jenny This is beautiful.....just perfect for a new addition to the family. The image is so cute. Know what you mean about white cards.

    Sometimes I stick some of my card in a polly pocket...at least some of its clean and you can still distress on the smooth surface.
