Following on from my recent Saturday Showcase post I've created another double page spread in my Dina Wakley Media Kraft Journal using many items from her line including Scribble Sticks. And of course to follow the current challenge theme die cuts have been used to embellish the background.
As a complete contrast to the previous pages I chose a neutral colour scheme, using the metallic Scribble Sticks from the third set to add some colour over a base of white gesso. The paint from the Scribble Sticks moves around a lot easier when the card has been primed with layers of gesso and scraps torn from a book first, needing only a paintbrush loaded with water to move it around and blend the colours.
The background needed more structure so I applied white gesso through one of the stencil designs from the 'Marks' stencil and repeat stamped a couple of the rectangular images from the 'No Refunds' stamp set using permanent grey ink. They looked a little like picture frames so I went with that theme when choosing some die cuts to embellish it.
The small rectangular blocks and frames were cut using Eileen Hull's Sizzix Scoreboards 'Camper' Die and were painted with each of Dina Wakley's metallic acrylic paints before being glued onto the stamped background.
To finish the journal page I needed a focal point and chose to use one of the faces from the 'Elements' Collage Paper pack, painting it on the reverse with ;Sand; acrylic paint before adding it using gel medium. More colour was added using the Scribble Sticks again and I drew in some shoulders after extending the neck. To finish I stamped the words from the 'Ledger Girls' stamp set using permanent black ink.
