I've been playing with the Waterfall die in Eileen Hull's Sizzix 'Card, Waterfall & Tags' Die Set and used it to create this Japanese stab bound book.
The pages inside have been stamped and embossed, coloured and hand stitched to embellish the patchwork design further.
To create this book I started by using a 3"x5" Gel Plate to pull a number of prints onto wet strength tissue (the equivalent in the US is deli paper). Below you'll see a few Dina Wakley Media Acrylic Paints were used in this process (namely Buff, White, Sand, Mineral and Night) in combination with a couple of Tim Holtz Layering Stencils (Code and String).
The pieces of tissue were trimmed into narrow strips before being stuck ontto 3 3/4" (9.5cm) wide paper in a patchwork pattern with matte gel medium. Once dry I cut pages using the Waterfall die that comes in Eileen's 'Card, Waterfall & Tags' Die Set, a die that also cleverly adds a score line at the top to make folding the spine easier.
To decorate some of the pages I added offcuts of paper edging and gold metal flakes on double-sided tape strips. Wendy Vecchi's 'Spring Bouquet' stamp was used to heat embossed flowers which I then painted with more Dina Wakley Media Acrylic Paint. After hand stitching some of the other pages they were glued together back to back in pairs to make up a number of double-sided pages.
To finish the book I made sure each page was creased along the fold line and added holes before stitching through to bind them together. The phrase on the front of the book comes from Wendy Vecchi's 'Heartfelt Art' stamp set and was heat embossed, like the flowers inside, with black embossing powder.
Here are a few close ups of the pages inside the book;
That's my take on the 'Anything Goes' theme. For even more inspiration the rest of the Design Team have come up with their own projects for this challenge so make sure you hop on over and check them out HERE.
For now, thanks for visiting,
