Love Is All Around Us at The Funkie Junkie Boutique

Hi everyone and welcome. It's time for another challenge over at the The Funkie Junkie Boutique Blog and I'm the host for this one, 'Love Is All Around Us'. With Valentines Day approaching it's time to share a little love. Create something vintage or shabby chic featuring hearts. Here's a few ideas to get you started;

As ever, the Design Team will choose their top four picks, with the winner being invited to join us in a Guest DT spot at The Funkie Junkie Boutique Blog and the next three will receive Top 3 Badges to display on their blogs. Everyone who enters and follows the rules will be entered into the draw to have the chance to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

This coming Valentines Day promises to be a difficult one but I know that special someone in my life will be there by my side through it all. So for him I've put together a card to let him know just how much he is loved.

There's no tutorial for this one but here's a quick run down of how it came together. The base layer is a piece of copier paper that I brayered with 'Ruby', 'Carnation' and 'White' Dina Wakley Media Acrylic Paints. Over the top are strips from Wendy Vecchi's 'Washi Assortment 2' (love the way the hearts perfectly compliment the little dots on the larger strip) some machine stitching and stencilled hearts using Wendy's 'Never Enough Hearts' stencil. I traced the larger heart from this stencil onto a piece of card, painted it with more White Acrylic Paint, edged it with Wendy's 'Potting Soil' Blendable Dye Ink and mounted it onto the card base. The flower is one from Wendy's 'Delightful Art' stamp set; I used the coordinating Mat Minis for the flower and bud, stamping, painting and cutting out the leaves that sit behind them. Paints used to colour these include Dina Wakley's 'Ruby', 'Cheddar', 'Olive' and 'Lime' shades. A simple Wendy Vecchi phrase perfectly summed up what needed to be said on the front of this card. Here are a couple of close ups to show the finished card in more detail;

That's my take on the theme 'Love Is All Around Us' for the current The Funkie Junkie Boutique Blog challenge. My amazing team mates have also been reaching for those hearts for this challenge so make sure you hop on over and check out their gorgeous projects HERE. And remember to link up your own shabby chic or vintage projects to be in with a chance of winning one of the fabulous prizes that's up for grabs.

Thanks for visiting,

  2. Fabulous! Love that the paints make such a gorgeous bright flower against the more muted background. The washi tape is a fun addition and at first glance I thought it was stamping so it blends in beautifully.
    Hugs!
