Exterminati Sunt by Olga Heldwein
When I saw this border stamp from AALL & Create I knew I just had to have it. Olga Heldwein has included so much detail in this design with a patchwork of intricate pieces of script creating the perfect backdrop for a collection of winged insects.
Having applied layers of Dina Wakley paint onto the white card I stamped the whole image using Black Archival Ink. You'll see below how I then painted out the insects to create a contrasting white background for them. I then re-stamped the insects onto white card, cut them out and layered over the background to add some much needed dimension.
Here are a couple of close ups of the finished card so you can see the the true beauty of this border stamp in more detail;
You can purchase Olga's stamp set 'Exterminati Sunt' from AALL & Create HERE and it's also available from many of your favourite retailers across the World (listed on the same page).
That's it from me for today. I hope you've enjoyed seeing the beauty of this stamp in action here. Do make sure you pop over to the AALL & Create Facebook page to see more from the other designers and guests. In the meantime take care of yourselves and get creative!
Wow! This is fabulous Jenny! It is a fabulous stamp too! Hugs, Chrisx
ReplyDeleteThank you Chris! xx
DeleteYes, that is a VERY nice stamp and I admire how you've used it. Wondering though, is it possible to use this stamp in such a way as to bring out the fine detail of the insects? (Not all stamps are etched finely enough--just curious.)
ReplyDeleteSo glad you like it Beulah. Great question! I went with multiple layers of stamping with black archival ink to get a really dark and dramatic look over the painty background but yes, by using just one layer of stamping it is possible to bring out the detail more clearly.
DeleteStunning card! Jenny . The bold black and white 'B' insects are so striking against the painty background . The white scratchy lines to the left are the perfect finishing touch .
