Hi everyone and welcome! It's a busy time at IndigoBlu with Kay-Halliwell-sutton on Hochanda this weekend with an amazing One Day Special. Then there's the 5th Birthday Open Day celebrations at Retford tomorrow (May 30th) with Elizabeth Robinson, Kay and myself demoing all day and lots of very special offers (and cake!) in the shop. Hope you can join us for all of this!
It's really hard in an hour long show to get to see all the beautiful samples up close so I'm sharing some of mine here for the next couple of days. And here's the first - a 'Romantique' use for the Chemistry Lab stamps and Weird Science stencil!
I covered the 20cm square flat canvas with a thin layer of FlitterGlu before adding a random layer of Kroma Crackle all over and heat setting to dry. After sealing with Matte Slap it On I brushed over some very dilute Goldfinger Metallic Acrylic paint. Finally, by dry brushing White Gee-Sso Good! gesso it made the crackle and canvas texture really show up.
To help the main Lost Family Mixed Media paper image stand out I added layers of Cartography and European Grand Tour Mixed Media papers underneath. One was covered with more dilute Goldfinger paint before being coated with Diamond Resin to make it translucent. All three had stitching applied too before I added them to the background. Then came the stamping and stencilling with the Chemistry Lab set and Weird Science stencil, some lace, a few pearls and a chipboard word painted with the Goldfinger paint. The heart pendant also contains the Cartography paper with some pearls and a layer of Diamond Resin.
Thank you for taking the time to stop by today to see this tv sample in more detail.
I'm heading off to Retford now, enjoying the rare sight of sunshine in the UK on a bank holiday! I hope you have a great weekend and whatever you're doing, take care of yourselves, Jenny xxx

She's so gorgeous. I love all of the layers.
ReplyDeleteI too spotted this in the bottom corner on Kays show Jenny. Love the way you have taken the chemist symbols and used them to link the elements, whilst using the pearls and the lace to enhance the vintage look of the canvas. The kroma crackle background is a lovely texture and the addition of the pendant makes it even more special. Mo x
ReplyDeleteThere's a gorgeous nostalgic glow to this, Jenny - definitely romantic, and with wonderful detailing in the textured background, stitching and some of that lovely lace!

Who would have ever thought it possible to use the chemistry set stamps and weird science stencil in such feminine way ? Only you Jenny - very clever and it works fabulously on this romantic dreamy beauty . Love the texture the kroma has created on the canvas and of course your focal image , elements and embellished are collaged perfectly . Love the hanging heart .
