Hi everyone and welcome. So, half way through the weekend the hamster wheel keeps a-spinning... have to say I've been blown away by the response to my 'Art Chemistry' canvas. As well as the previously mentioned Top 3 at Emerald Creek Dares, it's now been awarded Top 3 at Country View Challenges and Winner at Anything But Cute (where 'Lady Elsie' was also named Sara Emily's Favourite too!)
Back here on Terra firma, and last weekend I got to play 'Wendy Vecchi' style - I had so much fun it turned from one day into two. To explain, Linda Coughlin was kind enough to send me some stamped images and backgrounds from the new Wendy Vecchi releases. Black archival ink on plain white card. Ready for inking, cutting and so much more. Wendy is a master at finding fabulous quotes to include in stamp sets and I adore her backgrounds (waiting for them to come through as we speak!!!) but it's also been brilliant to use the new nature based stamps and stencils.

This card has a Victorian feel to it don't you think? I started by spritzing the Botanical Register background with Antique Linen Distress Spray Stain before dripping and blotting some water, splattering black gesso over and adding ink to the edges. It works perfectly on top of the ripped page from a gardening encyclopaedia I picked up from a charity shop. That's all layered onto a 'Quilted' embossed piece of white card previously dipped in a mix of surgical spirit and Archival Inks (Forget Me Not, Potting Soil and Cornflower Blue).
I rescued the Cabinet Card die cut frame (covered in Silver embossing paste and covered with the Forget Me Not and Cornflower Blue Archival Inks again) from my 'spares' box to work as a perfect foil for the potted plant. Stamped from the Blooming Art set it was coloured with Distress Markers before being cut out. I rather like the effect of layering Remnant Rubs over it as a contrasting silhouette. The little heart uses the Ticking background and faux stitching. And finally the quote comes from the Exceptional Art set and fits perfectly in Tim's Simple Sayings frame/die.
Play time resulted in many more cards and I'll be sharing these in the coming weeks. For now make sure you check out Wendy's new releases and keep your eyes peeled for more wonderful Wendy makes from other members of the Frilly and Funkie DT.
I'm entering this into;
Vintage Stamping Challenges - #41 Splatters and Drips
(as both backgrounds required a fair few of those!!!)
Hope you enjoy what remains of the weekend, have a happy Valentines Day and most importantly, take care of yourselves. Jenny xxx
