Hi everyone. My first post of the day and it's a DT project for the current Frilly and Funkie challenge, 'Summer Heat!' July brings with it the heat of the Summer, so for this challenge we want to see those warm colours in your project. Think red, orange, sunshine yellow and as an added twist you need to include a summer bloom somewhere on your project.
The background for this card has been lurking in the back of my head for a while and this was the perfect time to use it. The warmth of a piece of burlap attached to card, covered in Studio 490 Wendy Vecchi Gold Embossing Paste and stencilled with her Archival Inks provided a fantastic base for the summer bloom. If you haven't yet used these inks over a metallic base (be that paste or paint) please try it. The effect is mesmerising.
Having been inspired by a vignette piece by Lynn Whipple seen on Claudine Hellmuth's 'Composition for Collage' course I knew that would be the way forward for this card, allowing the background to shine through without being the focal point. Don't I sound arty now!!!!
The central bundle consists of mulberry paper (haven't used this in ages and it's fab!) chipboard, a piece of book page, a kraft core large ticket and the stamped, water-coloured, fussy cut, embossed flower (stamped from the Studiio 490 Wendy Vecchi stamp set 'The Beauty of Art') all tied together with some coloured twin and one of those wonderful Tim Holtz Idea-Ology hearts. You will also spy a remnant rub (the number 21) - I coloured the inside with a white gel pen to make it stand out further.
With my summer flower as the focus for this card I'm entering it into the Fashionable Stamping Challenge - 'Flowers' sponsored by Flonzcraft.
With two more posts coming up this morning I hope you can join me again later.
In the meantime make sure you pop across to the Frilly and Funkie challenge blog to see what my fellow Funkie team mates have been up to before submitting your own summer floral projects to be in with a chance of winning.
