Hi everyone and welcome. How do you like to save your trip memories? Eileen Hull’s dies and stamps are perfect for documenting your vacations and travels! Her various journal dies are great for making little albums. Throughout July Eileen's teams have been sharing ideas and inspiration for saving those precious memories. I've created a travel folio with a seaside theme which would be perfect for recording trips to the beach, tropical islands, cruises or even a visit to an aquarium!
Eileen's Sizzix ScoreBoards XL Folio Journal Die is ideal if you want something small and portable yet roomy enough to hold lots of photos, journaling and ephemera. I needed some design papers that would fit with the theme and coordinate with some leftovers from an old Prima pack. Luckily DT team mate Elizabeth Robinson has the perfect solution in her Etsy store - a digital download collection called 'A Little Fishy'. You can take a glimpse at this beautiful collection below (with my scraps and leftovers piled up in the centre);
Having covered the outside of the folio with some of these papers I added some wired ribbon through the spine so that it could hold the pages closed when tied in a bow.
Opening up the covers the beauty of Elizabeth's collage designs continues to be revealed and you'll notice I've attached a little envelope to the inside of the spine to hold a set of pencils, perfect for jotting down notes about the contents of the folio.
Flipping open the left-hand cover unveils yet another flip open element, full of pockets and tags; the tags were cut using Eileen's Sizzix Thinlits 'Card, Waterfall & Tags' Die Set.
Delving further inside the folio, full size pocket pages have been added for extra storage, secured to the two 'inner' spines with the help of Eileen's Sizzix Thinlits 'Bookbinding & Labels' Die Set. It's always worth going back through your older Eileen die sets to find other ways of adding pockets and journaling cards.
On the inside of the two main covers there is extra width to allow you to experiment with different styles of pocket design for holding your travel ephemera. I used some of the design papers with Eileen's Maker Forte 'Snail Mail - Postage' Stamp Set to create coordinating postcards.
The sides of further pocket pages on the right-hand side of the folio give yet more opportunity to play with extra storage designs. To coordinate with the collage elements in the design papers the little labels come from Eileen's Maker Forte 'Making Plans' Stamp Set.
The final sides of the folio include yet more pockets and, as with the left-hand side, the inside cover opens to reveal a folio envelope. The quarter circle pockets from Eileen's Sizzix Thinlits 'Folio Page, Pocket & Flowers' Die Set are really useful for holding larger tags and ephemera securely in place.
Thank you for joining me today. Make sure to check out all the fantastic projects and tutorials from the rest of Eileen's team members - links to their posts can be found on Eileen's blog throughout the month.
For now thanks for visiting,
