Halloween Tags at Our Creative Corner

Hi everyone. So we've arrived at the beginning of October. It's Julia's turn to host this month's challenge at Our Creative Corner and she wants you to make a tag. It needs to be the main project, not something added to your work and it needs a Halloween theme. And for a further twist your tag must include some surface texture; think modelling paste, thick gesso or clay with texture from stamps or other items, dry embossing or embossing powders, texture sprays, crackle glaze, fabric, corrugated cardboard - the list is endless really!

Here's my version, inspired by the wonderful Vivian Keh (Contadina K). This is a video link I've added before but it is such a good one I'm doing it again for those who missed it.

I grabbed my Blackberry and Graphite Viva Decor Ferro Paste, smeared them on randomly and used Vivian's method for adding texture. Then came a sprinkled mix of gold and midnight black embossing powders, heated to work their magic. Finally the untextured areas were blended with Distress Inks (Dusty Concord/Seedless Preserves/Chipped Sapphire).  Now the fun could have stopped there, but then I reached for my new circular stencil and sprayed through it with Biscotti Perfect Pearls spray, followed by Seedless Preserves Distress Paint to create a web design in two corners of the tag.

This gave me the idea to add embossed Mini Blueprint spiders hanging from twine threads and die cut branches covered in Glossy Accents. The faux metal sentiment panel was created using a faux cloisonné technique I haven't used in ages and was attached using TH long fasteners. Finally the bottom edge was die cut and the crinkly nylon ribbon coloured with Distress Paint to match (gosh this stuff covers anything!!!)

Well you can't say I don't offer you a variety of projects and I urge you to hop over to Our Creative Corner to take a look at what my incredibly talented fellow team mates have been up to. We'd love to see your take on this challenge too.

I'm going to enter this into;

Thank you so much for stopping by. Take care of yourselves. Hugs, Jenny xxx

  27. Jenny..your Halloween tag is really cool! I love all of that metallic texture you've done on your background. I have GOT to to check out that link that you gave about that. I really do love the way you made the flourish die cuts look like they were coming right out of the metallic splotches on the background. The spider webs are cool and the "HAPPY HALLOWEEN" is a great center for your tag. Thanks for sharing it with us at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. <3 Candy
