Enjoying the Sunshine

Hi everyone and welcome to Wednesday! It's the second week of the 'Summertime' challenge over at Frilly and Funkie. Terry has set us a fantastic theme - "This time I thought it is Summertime... so you can make whatever you like as long as it has everything to do with... THE SUMMERTIME... it can be a scene, a project, sunshine, bright colours, etc." So with that in mind here's what I came up with;

The whole thing started with a healthy dose of early Sunday morning inspiration courtesy of my FB friend Mo 'TwinkleToes' Allan who posted a most wonderful and colourful flower project. I'd already started the background (glass bead gel medium through a stencil over some gesso scrapes) but it needed more, much more to match the sunrise and warmth intensifying outside.

A combination of paint and ink gave a vibrant background, and stamped detail was added using the servietten technique before I added the gold paint and gilding wax.

Next came the flowers. Linda has some brilliant tutorials on crinoline flowers and I took inspiration from her sunflowers HERE, adding more layers and using different colours of ink for each each one. The centre buttons were altered with a sprinkle of Distress EP and some gilding wax.

To finish the design I added lace and brass leaves, both treated with paint/gliding wax. Sunglasses required again but it really captured the sunshiny mood of the day - all topped off with an Andy Murray win at Wimbledon! It was a truly magnificent Sunday all round.

So how about having a bash at making something summery of your own for the Frilly and Funkie challenge. We'd love to see your take on this theme. I'll leave you with that thought and see what another day brings.
Take care of yourselves, hugs Jenny xxx

  27. How gorgeous, Jenny... I love the spectrum of maroon - red - orange - gold for the sunrise and then the hit of vivid green, and that the green is on two such contrasting textures. The harlequin bead gel is so cool!

I finally added Bloglovin to my PC it is on my iPad but it seems that I make too many mistakes when posting from there, either old age or the klutzes! looking forward to inspiration and laughter along the bloggers road.
