Another year, another layer

Hi everyone and a massive Happy Birthday to my 'birthday twin' Anne, who should be enjoying a special day out with her beautiful family as I type. I hope you have the most wonderful day Anne - you truly deserve it. Anne has sent me the most beautiful card and a box of goodies, and I've also had a gorgeous card from Rita another from Rosie and a fabulous tag and natural goodies from Annie. If you pop back tomorrow there will be a special post showing you all of these in close up so as to do them justice (and prevent this post from turning into an epic!) A huge thank you too to everyone who has sent best wishes via Facebook. I know not everyone is a fan but it is so special to get 'real time' messages from friends all over the World.

So what's this all about? Remember my Tim Holtz tag book (original post HERE). Well I had intended to just add some journalling pages inside, but then some thick cardboard packaging called to me and I decided to add some chunky pages to give the book more weight and sturdiness. And here's what I did to each of them (bar one, which is a personal 'postcard' to Tim)...

Each piece of cardboard was covered with paper from the TH French Industrial pad and inked in different ways. This was the brayer technique again (which I love) and is one of my favourite 'pages'.

A spot of stamping in the background and Perfect Pearls Forever Red over black cs for my artistic gentleman. The corrugated cogs have been altered with paint, crackle paint and stain, the little heart has been crackled too and the simple sentiment was added to shrink plastic.

Easily the most awkward page, I distressed the photographic advertising cards with inks and added some embossing paste coloured with paint to the background. There's also some embossing and stamping.

This worked rather well too, though it's difficult to see all the layers. Start by stamping cogs with clear ep, then cover the paper with stain (which resists the cogs). Then stamp with Archival ink, and iron over the embossed areas. Cover the whole lot with a layer of Glue n Seal, then blow alcohol ink drops over the top. Then add embellishment and hey presto!

And the final added page, making use of more of that French Industrial paper with the embossed map and a reverse stamped pointing finger. The background paper had a coat of Pewter Stain to ensure the rest of the elements weren't overpowered.
I'm entering this into;

And so this tag book is finished, in a week which saw me juggling way too much stuff in the heat and paying the price. Now it's the calm after the storm. A chance to enjoy the end of the Tour de France (go Chris Froome!!) and the company of my lovely family. Here's hoping the weekend affords you the chance to chill out and relax too. Take care of yourselves, hugs Jenny xxx
