Nel Gwynne I Aint!!

Bet that title got you wondering what I was blathering about!! Well Nel was famous for her oranges, but I must admit to it being my least favourite colour, so it was with great trepidation that I saw the Make My Monday challenge for this week - secondary colours (these are colours made from combinations of two primary colours).

As an added bonus this month, Priyanka from My Heart Pieces is offering 3 digis of choice to the July monthly winner. Check out her fabulous images HERE.

And so to reveal my project for this week...

And now the 'how to' - The background was created on silk art card by using white acrylic paint as a stamped resist to various shades of green ink. The purple 'fringing' is in fact some 'fabric' paper 'torn' by applying water to the edges and then tugging gently along the water line.

If you start light and then add darker shades in blotches you have more control over the final look. And so to the flowers, using a faux pressed flowers technique taught by the fabulous Mynnette - see it HERE.

It was one of those techniques you store in your head to be used at the earliest opportunity. As I didn't want the flowers to overpower the delicate shades of the background I dug out some textured purple/white card from my stash. To echo this in orange I used Coredinations Whitewash card with an orange background colour and sanded it. All the flowers were cut using SB Rose Creations, and the leaves were punched. The centres were a challenge overcome with Promarkers. They were used to stamp the stamens and to colour some blobs of CS gold PVA glue.

The sentiment (also stamped in Orange Promarker) is from Dimension Fourth and the banner shape was created from a Glitter Girls board and was then embossed with a Sizzix folder.

And so my fear of using orange was overcome. Now, can you measure up to this challenge? There were some amazing entries to last week's primary colours challenge (not all paper-based either!!! :)) and it would be great to see the same this week. Hop over to the Make My Monday blog to see what the talented Design Team have been up to and then get creating. Can't wait to see what you can do!
Hugs, Buttons x
